Water (EYDAP)

EYDAP is Greece’s largest water utility provider, serving 4.300.000 customers.
It operates four water treatment plants having a nominal supply from 200.000 to 600.000 m3 daily each and 3 Wastewater Treatment Plants.
The plant analyzed in TRINEFLEX is Metamorfosis WWTP.
It is the only plant in Attica Prefecture able to receive and treat septic sewage generated from areas without sewerage system.
The design capacity of the plant is 24.000 m3/d of septic sewage and 20.000 m3/d of municipal wastewater.
Demo Case Objectives
TRINEFLEX approach/method will be applied with the aim of:
- Optimize the energy demand based on monitoring and final flexibility potential generation using digital validation
- Integrate the digital twin with renewable energy production and storage
- Implement of a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) interface to incorporate a network of industries and prosumers.
ACTIVITIES
The following activities will be carried out in the Metamorfosis WWTP.
TRINEFLEX approach will be applied to the AERATION PROCESS, SLUDGE and BIOGAS MANAGEMENT PHASE.
The foreseen activities are:
The energy demand of aeration and sludge management will be optimized based on monitoring and final flexibility potential generation using digital validation (response times, postponement, slow-down).
Digital Twins will be developed and will be integrated with renewable energy production and storage.
Virtual Power Plant (VPP) interface will be formed between EYDAP, HALCOR and energy communities via MYTIL, to incorporate a network of industries and prosumers.
